Castello Dei del Carretto
The imposing Renaissance castle is located in the ligurian mountain village of Balestrino, which became known as a movie location and ghost village. Much of the population left the village in 1953 due to assumptions of an impending landslide. Today, residents have resettled among the ruins.
The castle, built back in the early 16th century for Marquis Pirro II Del Carretto, towers over this interesting mountain setting and is privately inhabited.
